Feb 3 - 5 events have been postponed. HOWEVER we are planning on an AUTOMOBILE Poker Run Starting from the Lake Paul Community Center Feb 4th Registration between 10:30am and 11:30am, Follow a map, collect cards and return by 2:30pm for prizes and award. Details posted over the weekend.
Trails continue to be worked on, once enough snow has fallen use caution the first time out, some areas won't get a final inspection until there is enough snow.
There are some sensitive areas to watch for this season, the usual Christmas Tree plantations, young orchards and winter wheat. A particularly important area is the #22 North from the 101 (rail bed) near Aylesford. The fields between the rail bed and the 101 highway tunnel have been clearly marked using a rope fence. This was a HUGE undertaking by Calvin Keddy and other volunteers ran this fence 3000 feet !!
Another large winter wheat field is marked with posts, this is the field next to the 101 highway in Coldbrook. If you see someone venturing off trail on agricultrual land please educate them! As riders all we have to do is STAY ON THE TRAIL. Landowners are happy to allow us the privilege of using his lan, lets respect them.
Thanks to the guys who have saved these routes from being closed.
Looking for club signs to help with trail maintenance? Tom Corkum has a pretty good inventory of signs and wooden posts. Located at Corkum’s Pipe and Culvert in Windermere (South Berwick).
If you see something that needs to be fixed on the trail, the best thing to do is to gather a few friends and fix it and inform the area director. If you are not able to do the work yourself please contact the area director or post it on the website under “Trail Deficiencies” section.
The Crystal Falls Trail that Jack Hamilton has worked tirelessly to complete will be open this year. This trail will become a popular trail for snowmobilers, hikers and skiers. Those of us who have watched the progression of this trail are very excited to explore it… bring your camera!
The list goes on and on, simply put there has been trail improvements, new routes, widening, in every area. Some areas you may not even recognize!
Come to the Feb 2nd meeting at the Waterville Fire Hall to hear each director talk about their areas. (hopefully by snowmobile)
Listen for the Intrepid Snowmobiler brought to you by Best Toyota on Magic 949 and AVR. The weekly Snowmobile Report Friday nights 5:20pm thanks to Cobequid Mountain Sports; on both stations as well.
Hope to see you and your truck at the Poker Run !
